PoemHunter is not a contest
But I feel like a winner nonethe less!
As I explain, you'll understand why I chose it as a subject for this forum.
Poemhunter.com is an online archive that has over 300,000 poems by over 24,000 poets. The "contest" that is not a contest exists by reason of their "Top 500" popularity listings for active poets from each country and another top 500 listing for the world as a whole.
Incidentally, I have the impression that Canada is underrepresented in their archive, CPA members might wish to take note.
There are no trophies, prizes or wreaths of laurel, but the reason that I feel like a "winner" is that I am currently listed as the #10 poet for the USA and #43 for the world! It's very satisfying to know that my work has drawn that much attention!

To go there when you are already on site, Click on "manage your poems", then in the “TOOLS” box, click on "promote your poems". When you are on the “promote your poems” page, there is a top ten list for the world on the right hand side of the page. At the bottom of the list there is a link that will take you to the complete list of 500 and at the top of the complete list, you can pull down a list of countries and link to the top 500 rankings for individual countries.
Of course some countries are not represented by as many as 500 poets, so you will get a complete list of that country's poets, ranked in the order of their popularity. Other countries, such as the US, far exceed 500, so it is only a partial listing of their participating poets.
BTW, as I've already mentioned, I am #10 on the list for the USA and #43 on the world list and now you can see for yourself!
Please let me know if you had any difficulty with the link or the directions that I gave you. I'd also be happy to know if they work for you!
